OBITUARY.

Died on the 28th of October, John R. THOMAS only son of D. E. and H. E. THOMAS. In the 23rd year of his age. Yes, John has gone to his happy home, and while the cloud of sorrow for his absence enshrouds us; he is beholding the morning light of his eternal day on the threshold of that glorious home he so much anticipated. We know that lovingly did he entwine himself around the chords of your hearts, and with all the ecstasy of your parental love you worshipped him. He was the daystar of hope; but while grieving for your departed; think of him as revelling in everlasting sunshine, amid untold glories of eternal felicity.

As a diamond lighting up the pathway of his father; a link in the golden chain for his mother; binding soul to soul, uniting earth to heaven. A star to his little sister, shedding rays of light upon her innocent unconnected memory of him once with her. John has passed away early; his golden years will be spent in Paradise, his eternity in heaven. Peace then to our troubled hearts; let us be reconciled; for as we plant the evergreen at his tomb, and scatter the white roses on his grave our hearts respond:

"Bright be the place of thy soul;
No lovelier spirit than thine
E'er burst from its mortal control,
In the orbs of the blest to shine
On earth thou wert all but divine
As thy soul shall immortally be,
And our sorrow may cease to repine,
When we know thy God is with thee."

NOTE: John R. THOMAS was born in 1850 and was interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa. John's father D. E. THOMAS was born in 1827, and died January 2, 1915. John's mother Harriet A. (?) THOMAS was born in 1831, and died August 31, 1907. Lois E. THOMAS was born in 1867, and died at the age of 25 on July 5, 1892. They were interred at Rose Hill Cemetery.
