OBITUARY - BARBARA JEANNE (McCONNELL)
CARNS CLYMER SWINEHART

Barbara SWINEHART, 81, of Creston died December 3, 2006, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 8, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave. The Rev. Don FRANK, brother-in-law of Barbara SWINEHART, will officiate the service. Burial will be in Ellston Cemetery. The family will receive friends 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Avenue of Flags at Ellston Cemetery.

Barbara Jeanne SWINEHART, daughter of Lois Isabel (DUKES) and Jap D. McCONNELL, was born November 4, 1925, in Ellston. She graduated as salutatorian from Shannon City High School in 1943. In 1943, Barbara married Pete CARNS, who died as a result of a drowning. In 1945, Barbara married Raymond "Gene" CLYMER and they later divorced. On February 1, 1948, Barbara married Clyde SWINEHART in Grant City, Mo. They settled in Illinois for three years before moving to California. Barbara was a homemaker all of her life. In 1964, they moved to Creston where they lived for three years. They returned to California for 20 year and in 1987 they returned to Creston.

Survivors include her husband, Clyde SWINEHART of Creston; three daughters, Carmen MATYLEWICZ of Madisonville, Tenn., Rhonda Rae CLYMER of Des Moines and Holli (husband Steve) HESSLINK of Creston; two sons, Michael R. (wife Cheryl) SWINEHART of Laguna Nigel, Calif., and Gayl (wife Mona) SWINEHART of San Dimas, Calif.; sister Joan KELLEY of Show Low, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her first husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law Keith and Alice McCONNELL and step-grandson Paul AMUNDSON.
