MARILYN MARJORIE SWEENEY

Marilyn Marjorie (BUTLER) SWEENEY, only daughter of LeVantia and Floyd BUTLER, was born at Benton, IA., Dec. 14, 1927, and passed away at the Ringgold County Hospital on Sept 17, 1979, at the age of 51 years.

Her entire life was spent in Ringgold County and she received her education at Benton, IA.

Marj loved the outdoors and spent many hours fishing and hunting.

She was married to Russell James SWEENEY on June 3, 1949, Marj and Russ spent 30 years together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Charlie, Marvin and Hollis BUTLER, and one nephew Phil BUTLER.

Left to cherish her memory is her faithful companion Russell; two brothers and their wives, several sisters-in-law and a brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Rev. Orville RINEHART conducted the funeral services at 2 PM, Thursday, Sept 20 at Rhoades-Wilson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, IA. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

NOTE: Marj's father Floyd J. BUTLER was born June 23, 1886, and died on August 30, 1959 with interment at Oakdale Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa. Marj's mother LeVanita E. (DILLE) BUTLER was born in 1883, and died in 1963 with interment at Benton Cemetery, Benton, Ringgold County, Iowa. Of Marj's brothers: Charles V. BUTLER was born in 1917, and died in 1971; Marvin Joyce BUTLER was born September 28, 1921, and died May 31, 1971; and, Hollis W. BUTLER was born in 1914, and died in 1978. They were interred at Benton Cemetery.
