RAYMOND EDWARD STRAIGHT

Raymond Edward STRAIGHT was born in Platteville, Iowa on November 21, 1932. He went to be with the Lord on April 11, 2008 at the age of 75. He was the eldest of 4 children born to Luther STRAIGHT & Mary Mae (MATHENY) STRAIGHT.

Raymond moved to Lenox, IA at the age of 5 and attended school through his junior year. They moved to Clearfield and he graduated from Clearfield High School in 1950. On July 2, 1950, he married Virginia Lou ROOD. To this union were born 2 children; Rodney & Lurae STRAIGHT. From 1952 to 1961, he operated his parents Massey-Ferguson Implement. In 1962, he sold the business and moved south of Clearfield and began farming. Raymond farmed from 1961 to 2005; at which time he retired. Virginia and Raymond moved to Clearview Home in Clearfield. He enjoyed farming as well as caring for his livestock. Some of his favorite times were going on picnics and fishing trips with his family. He also enjoyed Sunday rides and stopping at the local Frosty Treat for a chocolate malt and fries. His pride and joy was his farm and family.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Marvin.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 57 years, Virginia; daughter Lurae STRAIGHT and companion Tom MOORE of Lenox, IA; son Rodney and wife Beverly STRAIGHT of Clearfield; two twin sisters MaryAnn WORKMAN & husband Earl of Shenandoah, IA and Suzanne STRAIGHT of Shenandoah; grandchildren Ivy MUELLER & husband Mark of Grandview, MO, Jessica JAY & husband Cody of Mount Ayr, Corinna STRAIGHT & companion Shane DEWEESE of Clearfield; great-grandchildren Hunter JAY, Alyssa JAY, Vincent STRAIGHT, and Noah MUELLER; other relatives and a host of friends.

Services were held Monday, April 14, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from United Methodist Church of Clearfield, Iowa.
