OBITUARY.

--Miss Alice STITES died at the home in Poe township on Wednesday morning, August 21, 1875, aged 28 years, six months and six days. Miss STITES was born February 15, 1867. She has lived many years in the county and has been recognized among all classes of people as a most excellent christian young lady. Some time since, she made a profession of faith in Christ and united with the christian church at Mt. Ayr. The funeral takes place from that church today at 2:30 p.m., conducted by the pastor Rev. E. B. CROSS. This family has been sorely afficted, a son having died but a few weeks ago. They have in large measure the sympathy of many friends.

NOTE: Alice's father Freeman M. STITES was born in 1874, and died in 1906 with interment at Diagonal Cemetery, Diagonal, Ringgold County, Iowa. Also interred at Diagonal Cemetery is Burr STITES, born 1905 and died 1906. Alice's brother Charles STITES died Friday, July 19, 1895 at the age thirty-three.
