DANNY CLAY STEWART

Danny Clay STEWART was born January 2, 1945 to Arlo and Donna STEWART in Blockton, Iowa. He passed away March 27, 2008 at his home, at the age of 63 years.

Danny graduated from high school at Diagonal, Iowa in 1963. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Lila SWANK on June 14, 1964. They enjoyed their marriage of 43 years.

At an early age, he was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Diagonal, Iowa. In 2004 he became a member of the Middle Fork Methodist Church.

Loving husband and father, Danny's greatest joy in life was his wife, children, grandchildren, and family. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. He loved spending time at their sporting events, taking them fishing and horseback riding.

Danny had a great love for the outdoors. He enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, trail riding, and livestock in general. Danny never met a stranger. No matter where he was, Danny would find someone to sit and talk with. He had the gift to gab. Danny worked for Ringgold County in Mount Ayr out of high school for four years. He then moved to Clearfield and worked for Bailey Feed & Seed. In 1974 Danny and Lila moved to Maloy, Iowa where they resided for 22 years. During this time Danny found a love for farming which included row crop and livestock. In 1996, with his life-long partner Lila, they moved to the Jackson Corner in Mount Ayr where he enjoyed raising cattle, horses, and coon dogs. He also extended his joy of livestock while working at Mount Ayr Vet Clinic.

Danny was preceded in death by his father, Arlo STEWART, father-in-law, Lyle SWANK, mother-in-law Georgine SWANK, and stepfather Paul Gene GRAY.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Lila, three sons, Rick and friend Mellanie, Kevin and wife Julie, James and wife Lory; mother, Donna STEWART GRAY, one brother, Dave and wife Carol, two sisters, Linda DeFreece and husband Jack, Amy WILLIAMS and husband Doug; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Jensen, Kendra, and Kesia Stewart, Samantha and Madalynn Stewart, and Skylyr STEWART; three brother-in-laws, Lyle Jr. SWANK and wife Mary, Leonard SWANK and wife Charlotte, Elvin SWANK and wife Cathy, two sister-in-laws, Rose CAMPBELL and husband John, Frances JACKSON and husband Roland; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Services were held Monday, March 31, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from United Methodist Church of Mount Ayr, Iowa.
