OBITUARY - MARY STEPHENS.

Mary STEPHENS, daughter of the late Albert E[rvin]. and Jennie (REED) STEPHENS, was born November 19, 1896, at Mount Ayr, and passed away at her home in Diagonal November 9, 1922, aged twenty-five years, eleven months and ten days.

In 1903 she, her father, brother and sister were converted and united with the High Point Methodist Episcopal church on the Ellston charge. As she grew into young womanhood she kept the faith and became an earnest worker in the church, the Sunday school and the Epworth League. At the time of her death she was president of the Sunday school of which she was a member and an officer in the Epworth League cabinet; also a member of the Rebekah lodge.

She completed the high school course of the Diagonal school, graduating in the class of 1919. Her illness and death, following so soon the death of her father, come as a severe shock. The family have the sympathy of the entire community more deeply than words can express.

She leaves to mourn their loss her brother, Raleigh R., her sister, Laura, two nieces, Luella May and Retha Belle, her aged grandmother, four uncles, George R. and Franklin C. STEPHENS of Oklahoma City, Okla., E. P. REED, of Mount Ayr, Dr. H. J. C. REED, of Ralston, Iowa, and many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist church at Diagonal in charge of the pastor at ten o'clock Saturday morning, November 11. Interment was made in the Mount Ayr [Rose Hill] cemetery.

CARD OF THANKS.

We wish to thank most sincerely all those who have so kindly helped and comforted us during the sickness and since the death of our dear sister; also for the beautiful floral offerings.

MR. AND MRS. RALEIGH R. STEPHENS.
LAURA STEPHENS.
