The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1922

OBITUARY - JESSE E. SNEDAKER.

Jesse Everett, son of William and Jane (McCOY) SNEDAKER, was born near LaSalle, Ill., December 28, 1854, and quietly passed away at his home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, December 19, 1922, age nearly sixty-eight years.

Out of a family of eleven children only two are left. They are Mrs. Katherine McINTYRE, of Ladd, Ill., and Mrs. N. W. CLARK, of Harlowton, Mont.

Mr. Snedaker was married to Miss Martha "Elizabeth" CULBERTSON October 23, 1884, at Chariton, Iowa. There are three children - Howard E., of Milwaukee, Wis.; Mable R., of Iowa City; and Mrs. Mary Marguerite HUMPHREY, of Mount Ayr. These with the mother and his host of friends mourn an irreparable loss.

Mr. SNEDAKER was a merchant in Mount Ayr until 1904 when he was made county auditor and served most acceptably for six years. Later he was a traveling salesman.

He was known everywhere and with all acquaintances as a genial friend. He was a very sincere christian. He made his profession of his Savior in his boyhood in Illinois, and was a member of the Congregational church. In Mount Ayr he was ruling elder in the Presbyterian church and more recently a member of the United Presbyterian church. He was a man of high honor and intensely industrious, yet he had time for a smile and joke for everyone. But towering above all else he was a man of God.

The funeral which was held Friday afternoon from the United Presbyterian church, was largely attended. The service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. L. TORRENCE, and interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

CARD OF THANKS.

We take this means of expressing to the neighbors and friends our sincere and heart-felt thanks for the kindness shown by helpful acts and words of sympathy during the illness and on the occasion of the death and funeral of husband and father.

MRS. J. E. SNEDAKER AND CHILDREN.
