RONALD LEE SMITH

Ronald Lee SMITH was born August 10, 1937 in Benton, Iowa and went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2008. He was the third of four sons born to Ted and Leila SMITH.

Ron proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He also served friends and family for many years as a very popular barber in both Iowa and Arizona. He enjoyed people and was always ready for a good visit and a cool beverage. Fishing, hunting, camping, and traveling were all favorite pastimes and he was often cheering a favorite ball team from his recliner as his health declined. However, Ron’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. His children and grandchildren were a constant source of delight.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Ronald "Bud" BEYMER.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ann; son Steve (Debbie); daughter Susan (Doug) HICKMAN; son Scott (Nicole) and their mother Colleen GREENMAN; his extended family Lori (Bob) HOWER, Jim (Lori) NORRIS, and Melanie (Mike) CORKISH; brothers Bill (Rena), Bob (Teri), and Don (Linda); mother-in-law Mildred BEYMER; brothers and sisters-in-law Ron (Kathy) BEYMER, Rick (Marcia) BEYMER, and Nancy (Steve) ROSE; grandchildren Landon (Hillary) JOBE, Lauren JOBE, Caylie and Ryker HICKMAN, Megan and Dylan HOWER, Allison NORRIS, and Morgan and Michael CORKISH; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends.

Services were held Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. from Benton Cemetery, Benton, Iowa.
