OBITUARY - MRS. ANNA SMITH

The writer of these lines was called upon Thursday, October 23rd, to conduct the funeral services of Mrs. Anna M. SMITH, who died on the morning of the 22nd at the residence of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander FRAZIER, in Decatur Township. Mrs. SMITH was born September 7, 1865, and was united in marriage to Mr. L. O. SMITH November 25, 1885. There was born to them one child, still living.

Three years ago MRS. SMITH professed religion at Tingley, Ringgold County, and united with the M.E. Church and there remained a good and faithful member until the death of her husband, February 18, 1889, after which she removed to her father's house in Decatur County, having received from the minister of the M.E. Church, a letter of good and regular standing. But her health being quite poor, she was unable to attend the meetings of the church either at Decatur or Leon, so that she retained her letter until her death.

Some time last spring, she took the measles and the disease ran into a lingering decline, which resulted in her death. Mrs. SMITH was highly respected by her neighbors, who speak of her as a very exemplary Christian woman, dearly beloved by the family and all who knew her. Quite a number of the neighbors attended the services and assisted in laying her to rest in the Shy [Shay?] Cemetery, with a good hope of a resurrection from the dead to eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
