DEATH of MRS. ALONZO SMITH.

After an illness of several months duration, Mrs. Alonzo E. SMITH passed away Monday evening at five o'clock at the stone home in east Mount Ayr, where she had been with her daughter, Mrs. Bertha HOPKINS, for several weeks. Mrs. SMITH was one of the early settlers of Lotts Creek township and was held in high esteem in the community. She was 68 years of age. The body was taken to the home in Lotts Creek township and the funeral will be held tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon at two o'clock at Caledonia.

NOTE: Anna E. (HUFFMAN) SMITH was born in 1856, and died April 7, 1924 with interment at Ringgold Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa. Her husband, Alonzo Edson SMITH was born in Jerico, Vermont on October 17, 1846, the son of William and Lavina SMITH, and died at Lotts Creek Township, Ringgold County, Iowa, February 19, 1925 with interment at Ringgold Cemetery. Anna and Alonzo were married in Ringgold County, Iowa, June 19, 1878. They were the parents of ten children: William C. of Sutton, N.D.; Mrs. A.M. VanWINKLE of Carrell, Minn.; Mrs. J. H. VanWINKLE of Courtnay, N.D.; Mrs. Van NOBLE of Kellerton, Iowa; Mrs. C. S. BELLINGER of Wapello, Iowa; Mrs. Homer SHIELDS and Mrs. L. C. MAIN of Lamoni; Homer, Edson, and Everett of Mount Ayr.
