The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1925

OBITUARY - MRS. CYRUS B. SKINNER.

Della CHUMLEY, daughter of Henry and Mary Chumley, was born in Worth county, Missouri, January 5, 1867, and departed this life at the home of her son, Fred, in Mount Ayr, Iowa, July 31, 1925, age 58 years, six months and 26 days.

She was married to Cyrus B. SKINNER, of Kellerton, Iowa, August 2, 1885. To this union were born twelve children. One son, Grant, died at the age of two years. The remaining eleven are grown and were able to be with and care for her during her last illness, which has been of long duration, although she had only been bedfast for about three weeks.

Always patient, never complaining, she has borne her sufferings in silence; going about her daily duties until her strength completely gave way, and she was compelled to go to bed, then when she could care for herself no longer it was her request to be cared for by her children, all doing everything that love and care could do for the one they cherished above earthly possessions.

She was united with the Church of Christ years ago and remained ever faithful to her belief and her Bible was her daily companion.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Cyrus B. SKINNER, nine sons, Fred C., Percy, Jesse, Glenn, all of Mount Ayr, Iowa; Vane, of Albany, Mo.; Victor, June, Arthur and Paul of Kellerton, Iowa, and two daughters, Mrs. Wm. BUELL, of Mount Ayr, Iowa, and Mrs. Wayne CAVENDER, of Omaha, Neb.; sixteen grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Carrie MICHAELS, of Kellerton, Iowa, and Mrs. Jennie NISSEN, of Worland, Wyo., and a host of other relatives and friends.

She has gone and Oh we miss her,
Tho' we know that she's gone Home,
And that she has gone to be with Jesus,
In that ever peaceful home.
No more sickness, no more sadness,
No more pain nor toil nor care,
And in that last day of judgment;
We know our mother will be there.

Mr. and Mrs. SKINNER were the parents of five soldier boys, three of whom served in France [World War I] and all received their honorable discharge from U.S. service.

The funeral was held from the home at 2:00 p.m. Monday by Rev. Cart ELLERS of Davis City, and the body was laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.

Card of Thanks.

For the many kindnesses shown during the illness and on the occasion of the death and funeral of our wife and mother, and for the beautiful floral tributes we extend our sincere, heart-felt thanks.

CYRUS SKINNER AND FAMILY.
