OBITUARY - CLARENCE "BUD" GREIMANN

Clarence "Bud" GREIMANN was born in Kellerton, Iowa on November 25, 1926 and went to be with the Lord on March 30, 2008 at the age of 81. He was the eldest of two children born to Weldon and Ellen GREIMANN. The family moved to a farm near Woodward, Iowa in the 1930's where they remained during his elementary years before returning again to the Kellerton area. Bud graduated from Kellerton High School in 1945 and enlisted in the army shortly after graduation. He spoke often of his years in the military and was proud to have served his country.

After he left the army, Bud’s adult years contained a wide variety of jobs that ranged from working in the mail room at Midway airport in Chicago to being on paving crews to various construction jobs. His real love, however, was farming which he was involved in for the majority of his adult life.

Bud was united in marriage to Marlene WILLIAMS on June 16, 1963 and they were the proud parents of two daughters. The family moved to his farm in rural Kellerton in 1966 where he remained until his death. In addition to farming, he was a substitute rural letter carrier for Kellerton in the 1970’s and later became the area’s full-time carrier where he reported to work faithfully through rain, snow, sleet and sunshine until his retirement in 1993. His retirement years were spent enjoying his grandchildren, working his beloved crossword puzzles, or simply being in his house watching the birds and the occasional deer that would pass through the yard. Bud also liked reading and watching shows about airplanes and trains. For their 40th wedding anniversary in 2003, his daughters treated him and Marlene to a ride on the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad train, which Bud enjoyed very much and remembered fondly.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon and Ellen. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 44 years, Marlene, daughter Tammy CRAFT and her husband Rick of Urbandale, daughter Tracey GODDARD and her husband Tom of Chariton, grandchildren Aaron and Kaitlin CLARK and Tianna and Tylar GODDARD, a sister, Lila and her husband Leo of Pleasant Hill and their children.

Services were held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., Trinity Christian Church of Decatur, Decatur County, Iowa.
