OBITUARY - RAMONA (FOSTER) ANDERSON

The home of Homer and Opal (CLAYTON) FOSTER of Mount Ayr, Iowa, became overjoyed on December 5, 1917, when Ramona was delivered. That bundle of joy quickly transformed into an elegant young woman. She graduated from the Mount Ayr High School in 1935. Soon after, this believer of education, continued at Highland College in Des Moines, Iowa and obtained her teaching certificate.

She taught a country school in the Ellston area until she was united in marriage on August 26, 1938, to Raymond Paul ANDERSON. Added to this family unit was daughter Suzanne and son Steve.

Ramona was a busy homemaker while living in Mason City. In addition to being a model wife and mother, she belonged to the United Methodist Church, attended the United Methodist Women’s organization, the PEO Sisterhood, was an active faculty wife entertaining faculty of the Mason City school system where Raymond taught and was also active in PTA. After she and Raymond retired to Sun Valley Lake, she transferred her membership to the Ellston United Methodist Church.

Family and heritage was important to Ramona. She spent her summers on the farm near Ellston with her in-laws where she helped to preserve the bountiful produce raised there. Spending holidays with family on the farm, in Clarinda and Mount Ayr was also a tradition. Special treats were also a tradition that Ramona prepared. All looked forward to her arrival with our sweet tooth’s ready. Ramona was a gracious hostess to all. After retirement, they spent winters in Arizona and visiting the children.

On December 1, 2000, she and Raymond moved into Clearview Estates in Mount Ayr. She always looked forward to visits from her grandchildren, Carsten and Fallon ANDERSON, eagerly awaiting the updates of their young lives.

When health issues requited, she moved to the Clearview Home especially enjoying the music entertainment there. She was fortunate enough during these golden years to find a roomie, Leulla CARPENTER, who truly became her “senior sister.”

Her gracious heart gave way to earthly life on Friday, August 3, 2007, in the Ringgold County Hospital. Often described as an elegant lady and an angel on earth, her faith in Jesus Christ will afford her of being an eternal angel in the hearts of those who ever spent time with her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, brother Keith FOSTER, half-brothers Homer, Holland and Leland FOSTER and half-sister Beatrice BLAKE.

Left to cherish her precious memory are her daughter Suzanne and husband John CHRISTENSEN and son Steve and children Carsten and Fallon ANDERSON of Denver, Colorado, sister-in-law Polly Foster of Folsom, California, niece Linda FOSTER and nephew Keith FOSTER and family, other relatives and friends.
