OBITUARY - GEORGE WILLIAM McBRIDE

George William McBRIDE, age 75 of Bedford passed away on Monday morning, January 10, 2005 at the Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Corning due to complications of heart failure and a battle with lung cancer. He was born June 30, 1929 in Goodland, KS, the son of Carl and Margaret (McGUIRE) McBRIDE. He grew up in Nebraska and Missouri and graduated from Maryville High School. George was united in marriage on December 20, 1968 to Betty HENSLEY. With this union he became the father of four daughters.

George spent his employment career working in construction and carpentry. George and Betty managed the Skelly Service Station for 13 years and then moved to the Conoco Station for four more years. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of a bowling league for over 20 years.

George also enjoyed working in the garden. He was an avid collector of anything and everything and liked piddling around. His most cherished treasures were his grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Margaret McBRIDE; and a brother, Keith McBRIDE.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Betty of Bedford; daughters, Linda WHEELER and Terry DeMARAY of Des Moines, IA; Ramona of Kansas City; Kelly and Greg ROBERTS of Mount Ayr, IA.

Grandchildren include, Andrea and Joshua WHEELER, Jared DeMARAY, Cody and Cory ROBERTS.

Other family member include his sister Margie HARRIS of Drumright, OK; brothers, Merrill and Phyllis McBRIDE of Shawnee, OK, Darrell and Darlene McBRIDE of Edmond, OK, Roland and JoAnn McBRIDE of Branson, MO, along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 13 at the First Baptist Church in Bedford with Pastor Jamie MOGLER officiating. Cremation followed the service with burial of cremated remains taking place at a later date in the Fairview Cemetery in Bedford. Memorials are suggested to the Bedford Ambulance Service or the Bedford First Baptist Church. Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel of Bedford was in charge of arrangements.
