DOWN STREAM

Weep not for me when I take up my oar
and drift downstream to meet the setting sun.
To me twill only mean the day is done,
the kindly current bears me safely on down tream.
You bid me stay - to tarry awhile;
What matters if it is a few days more or less
Of joy or sorrow, happiness or dispair
Fear not the shadows fall across my pa[illegible]
Love lights the way and I shall Safely float downstream.
It is a peaceful [illegible]
Tomorrow's land, to which I go and yet no idleness there.
The lesson here imperfect we learned,
and others [illegible] unguessed are there [illegible] plain;
And some day I shall call out to you
and you will hear and answer me.
And then you too will take your oar
and drift to where I await downstream.
