WILLIAM G. LONG DIES SUDDENLY AT HIS HOME

Sorrow filled the hearts of relatives and friends when it was learned that William G. LONG had died suddenly at his home in Mount Ayr early Thursday morning.

Mr. LONG arose early Thursday morning apparently in good health, and went with Marion HERRINGTON to do the chores. Upon their return to the house to eat breakfast, Mr. LONG stopped near the porch to clean his shoes. When he failed to come to the breakfast table, Mr. HERRINGTON went to look for him and found his body on the porch, where life had passed out.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church Sunday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. Harold SMITH. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Relatives from a distance, who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Sadie FLYNN and daughters, Ruth PATTON, Maurine TRIGGS, of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. C. W. HOOVER of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Stanton E. TENNANT and son Otto, of Colfax; Mrs. O. L. PETTERSON, of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. TENNANT, Mr. and Mrs. KIRTLEY, of St. Joseph, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert BOWLSBY, of Beaconsfield; Ramer STEELE, of Maloy; Connor STEPHENS, of Blockton.

Following is Mr. LONG's obituary:

William Grant LONG, son of I. M. and Ruth LONG, was born September 9th, 1868, at Luray, Licking county, Ohio, and departed from this life September 24, 1931, at his home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, at the age of 63 years and 15 days.

He grew to young manhood in Ohio, coming to Delphos, Iowa, with his parents in 1885. With the exception of a few years spent in Colorado and Missouri, his entire mature life was spent in this county.

Mr. LONG united with the Christian church at Delphos, Iowa, at an early age and later transferred his membership to the Mount Ayr Christian church, where he has been a faithful and devoted member.

He is survived by four sisters - Mrs. E. M. SHARER of Hebron, Ohio, Mrs. G. A. TENNANT of Mount Ayr, Iowa, Mrs. Belle HOOVER of Des Moines, Iowa, and Mrs. Sadie FLYNN of Denver, Colo.; and two brothers, Marion LONG of Springfield, Ohio, and Simeon LONG of Orient, S.D.; his parents and one brother and one sister have preceded him in death. A host of other relatives and friends are also left to mourn his passing.

Mr. LONG never married, but devoted his life to his parents, his chief aim during their later years being for their comfort and happiness. He lived a quiet life, but his honest and upright character and his patient and charitable disposition combined with his adoration of his own people caused him to be loved and cherished by his family and those who knew him best. [Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa.
