OBITUARY - MRS. I. M. LONG.

Ruth STEELE, daughter of John and Nancy STEELE, was born at Davistown, Greene county, Pa., July 23, 1831. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. F. FLYNN, August 13, 1922, aged 91 years and 21 days. She was married to I. M. LONG, also of Greene county, Pa., on December 30, 1851, who departed this life January 2, 1921. To this union were born nine children, two of whom, Jessie and Myrtle, died in infancy. The others are Marion LONG, of Newark, O[hio].; Mrs. Mary E. SHARER, of Granville, O.; Mrs. Nancy A. TENNANT, of Mount Ayr, Ia.; Simeon J. LONG, of Miller, S. Dak.; Mrs. Belle C. HOOVER, of Des Moines, Ia.; William LONG, of Mount Ayr, Ia.; Mrs. Sadie FLYNN, of Columbia, Mo. These, together with sixteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, a brother, Lott STEELE, of Davistown, Pa.; two sisters, Sallie STEELE, of Davistown, Pa., and Nancy E. HERRINGTON, of Omaha, Neb., and a host of other relatives and friends mourn their loss.

After her marriage Mrs. LONG lived in Pennsylvania until the year 1868, when she, with her family, moved to Hebron, O. In 1885 they moved to Delphos, Iowa. All of the later years of her life were spent in Mount Ayr, Iowa. She united with the Christian church at Hebron, O. in 1872 and remained a faithful christian during her life. Through the work and influence of Mrs. LONG and her husband the Christian church at Delphos, Iowa, as organized and the building erected.

Throughout her long life she was strong and active until she met with an accident two years ago which resulted in breaking her hip. Since then she has been a constant sufferer but bore it with patience and fortitude which in itself bespoke her character.

She was a kind, loving mother and a faithful friend, beloved by all who knew her. She was "Grandma LONG" and "Aunt Ruth" to everyone. Her greatest joy in life was to serve and make life happier for those around her.

The little children of every community in which she lived were her every-day companions. She made them feel and know how dearly she loved them. During her last days five little neighbor girls, in the strange town where she lived with her daughter, never missed a day to run in and pass a little while with grandma.

Long, long will she be remembered.

Funeral servies were held at the Church of Christ Monday morning at 10:30, conducted by the pastor, S. P. WILLIAMSON. The remains were laid to rest in the Rose Hill cemetery beside those of her husband.

NOTE: Israel M. (I. M.) LONG, husband of Ruth (STEELE), was born in January of 1831, Greene County, Pennsylvania. He died on January 2, 1921 and was interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa.
