OBITUARY - MRS. THOMAS LIGGETT.

Catherine Isabel ARTHURS was born January 30, 1846, on a farm in Warren county, Illinois, where she grew to womanhood.

On February 18, 1869, in the Ceder Creek church [Warren County, Illinois] she was married to Thos. LIGGETT of Union county, Ohio. To this union were born six children: Bessie of Philadelphia, Penn.; Mary and Pearl, who died in childhood; Margaret of Victor, Iowa; and Arthur and Harry of Mount Ayr. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Nancy LIGGETT, of Monmouth, Ill.

In April, 1875, Mrs. LIGGETT with her husband and family, moved to Mount Ayr.

On January 16, 1907, death claimed her husband and she spent the remainder of her life in the homes of her children, who welcomed her coming and deplored her departure.

Her last illness was of short duration, but probably more severe than any one knew, for she was a woman that sympathised with others' pains and kept her own to herself. Her creed was to serve and not be served.

All the days of her life she walked in the footsteps of the Master and the grave claims no victory in her passing, for while she leaves a vacant chair and aching hearts, she has gone to greet her many friends gone on before, to the mansion prepared for just such as she, eternal in the Heavens.

The funeral service was held Thursday afternoon from the United Presbyterian church of which she was a life-long, faithful member, being conducted by Rev. W. W. GORDON, pastor of the Tingley church, and the body was laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery [Mount Ayr].

THE CHILDREN.
NOTE: Thomas LIGGETT, husband of Catherine Isabel (ARTHURS), was born in Ohio on March 2, 1841, the son of Henry and Jane (BROWN) LIGGETT. He was a Civil War veteran, serving with the 36th Illinois Infantry. Thomas died on January 16, 1907, and was interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa.
