(From the Montezuma Republican)

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Herrod McKee, who died Tuesday morning at her home in Des Moines, were held Thursday morning at 10:30 at the University Christian church in Des Moines. Following the service there, the body was brought to this city for burial. A short prayer service was held at the grave at 2:30.

Mrs. McKee was the daughter of James E. and Catherine McIntire, whose marriage was the first performed in Montezuma, and probably the first in the county. She was born August 29, 1852, and died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 1933.

Mrs. McKee was married February 10, 1870 to Ellis Herrod who died in Montezuma. To this union were born three daughters, two of whom survive, Mrs. George Forby of Omaha, South Dakota, and Mrs. Mary Morrison of Kansas City. Mrs. Rachel Lund preceded her in death a few years ago. Mrs. Herrod later became the wife of David McKee of Des Moines.
