SERVICES HELD
FOR GILES AWTRY

Lynnville (Special) --Funeral services were held at 2 .m. Saturday in the Morgan-Loehr Funeral Home in Newton for Giles Awtry, who died April 6 in the Mahaska Hospital at the age of 68.

The Rev. Peter R. Schuler officiated at the services. Mrs. Lois Stanton, organist, accompanied Marion Welle, soloist.

Pallbearers were Lloyd James, Harold Beyer, Roy Copeland, Marshall Meredith, Harris Wagaman and Ray VerSteeg. Mrs. Warren Stanley, Mrs. Marvin Norman and Mrs. Marshall Meredith were in charge of the flowers.

Interment was in Hewitt cemetery.

Mr. Awtry was born July 14, 1898 in Elk Creek Township to Joe and Lizzie Weideman Awtry.

On Jan. 29, 1925 he was united in marriage to Ruth Ramage at Knoxville, Iowa. To this union were born four children -- Charles, Raymond, Delores and Wendell, all living at home.

Mr. Awtry lived in the Galesburg area from his birth until 1941 when he and his family moved to their present home on their farm between Lynnville and Searsboro.

Survivors include his wife and four children; a sister -- Mrs. Margaret Awtry Slycord; and a brother -- Charles Awtry, both of Galesburg, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruby Michmershuizen; and a brother, Harry Awtry.
