SERVICES HELD

Ruth W. Awtry, 86, of rural Searsboro died Monday, Oct. 10, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted Friday at the Reese chapel in Newton, with the Rev. Kenneth Santee of Lynnville officiating. Burial was in Hewitt Cemetery east of Reasnor.

She was the daughter of George and Jennie Ramage and was born Jan. 2, 1902, in Monroe. She was married to Giles Awtry Jan. 29, 1925, in Knoxville.

The couple farmed near Sully and south of Galesburg before moving to the Searsboro-area farm in 1941.

Mrs. Awtry is survived by three sons, Charles, Raymond and Wendell, all of rural Searsboro; one daughter, Delores Awtry of rural Searsboro; and two sisters, Caroline McCuen of Colfax and Etta Danley of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant twin children, four brothers and two sisters.
