FAE PETTIJOHN RITES CONDUCTED

The Rev. Fae Allen Pettijohn, 77, of 1620 Fifth Ave., Grinnell, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 18, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Grinnell Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Sam Reaves officiating. Assisting were the Rev. Allan Ullestad, superintendent of the Iowa District Council of the Assemblies of God, and the Rev. Norman Tosten, secretary-treasurer of the council.

Organist was Naomi Reaves, and pallbearers were William Belcher, Clifford Gerard, Eldon Gerard, Fred McElvogue, Robert Pettijohn, Harold Shoopman and Budd Warren.

Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorials in Mrs. Pettijohn's name may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Dewey and Olive Bucknam Dunwoody, she was born May 8, 1906, at Taintor. She attended New Sharon schools, graduating from New Sharon High School.

On Sept. 9, 1925, she was married to Ralph Watson Allen at Sigourney. They farmed near New Sharon and Kellogg. In 1942 they moved to Grinnell where she was an assistant manager at the Ben Franklin Store.

Following her husband's death in 1969, she was ordained as a minister in the Assembly of God faith. She served as an associate minister in churches at Winterset, West Point, Ill., and Des Moines.

She was married to the Rev. Roger Pettijohn on Jan. 1, 1972. The couple moved to Grinnell in July of this year.

Survivors include her husband; her children, Anna V. Stiles of Oologah, Okla., and Ray Allen of Simi Valley, Calif.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Irene Y. Blaine of Santa Cruz, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband.
