RALPH ALLEN DIES;
SERVICES SATURDAY

Ralph W. Allen, 64, of 1620 Fifth Ave., passed away suddenly Wednesday afternoon of an apparent heart condition at Grinnell General Hospital East. He had been hospitalized just a few hours before his death.

The son of Alfred Thurman and Cora Caudle Allen, Mr. Allen was born on July 5, 1904, near Searsboro, Iowa.

On Sept. 9, 1925, he was married to Ethel Fae Dunwoody at Sigourney, Iowa. They were the parents of two children -- Lyle Ray Allen of Raytown, Mo., and Mrs. Kenneth (Anna Virginia) Stiles of Marshalltown.

Mr. and Mrs. Allen had farmed in the New Sharon and Kellogg communities for a number of years, before moving to Grinnell to make their home in 1942. Mr. Allen was a partner in a produce business in Kellogg for 13 years and had driven the Kellogg school bus for the Newton Community Schools since 1959. He also had been employed as a night watchman with the Midwest Metal Stamping Co. in Kellogg for the last 3 years.

Mr. Allen was a member of the Assembly of God church in Grinnell and had served his church in many ways. Several years ago, he was Deacon in the church.

Survivors include his wife, Fae, two children, and six grandchildren -- David and Joyce Allen of Raytown, Mo., and Dean, Susan, Jane and Kay Stiles of Marshalltown. Also surviving are a brother and sister -- Ernest Allen of Ft. Dodge, and Mrs. Ruth Doherty of Waterloo.

Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother and sister, John Allen and Mrs. Veda Lisk.

Funeral services for Mr. Allen will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Grinnell Assembly of God church, with the Rev. Sam Reaves, pastor of the Grinnell church, and the Rev. Robert Gamble, pastor of the Kellogg Methodist church, officiating.

Organist will be Mrs. Sam Reaves and vocalist will be Darrell Wyss.

Pallbearers will be Sherman Reichelt, Lyle Blum, Gene Auten, Donald Whittaker, Robert Paulson and C.J. O'Brien. Honorary pallbearers will be Guy Cooper, Eldon Gerard, John McIlrath, Herbert Wyss, Robert Teed, Louis Smith, William Belcher and John Thomas. Flower Bearers will be Mrs. Robert Gamble, Mrs. Robert Teed and Mrs. Donald King.

Burial will be made in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home.
