MRS. JOE PRASHAK FUNERAL HELD DEC. 21

Funeral services for Mrs. Joe Prashak were held from the McAninch chapel, Victor, Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 21, with the Rev. Robert Gamble of the Guernsey Methodist Church officiating.

Vocal music was provided by Mrs. Roland Burke accompanied by Mrs. Bette Rieke, organist.

Interment was in the Guernsey Cemetery with Oscar Cordes, Darrell Cordes, Charles Mullen, Wayne Baustian, John Taylor and Clarence Provin serving as casket bearers.

Frances Sheda Prashak was born in Poweshiek County April 15, 1879, and died Saturday, Dec. 18. She was 86.

She attended rural schools and on Jan. 14, 1896, she married Joe Prashak of Victor. They began farming south of Victor and then moved to a farm east of Guernsey. In 1923 they moved to Guernsey and later returned to the farm until 1949 when they again moved to Guernsey. Mr.Prashak died Sept. 4, 1962.

Because of her ill health, Mrs. Prashak's daughter, Mrs. Roy Provin, took care of her in her home. For the past ten months she was cared for by Mrs. Amy Carver at Deep River.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Katie Koehn, Cedar Rapids; eight children, Joe of Deep River; Mrs. Henry Cordes of Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Roy Provin, Mrs. Carl Koehn, Mrs. Harold Wiedow, all of Guernsey; Mrs. Ben McManigal of Aurora, Ill.; Mrs. Cecil Lyman of Fort Dodge; Maynard of Coralville; and nine grandchildren.
