EDNA M. DAWLEY, 92

Edna M. Dawley, 92, of New Sharon, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006 at the Comfort House in Pella.

Her funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23, at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon with the Rev. Kevin Glesener officiating. Burial followed at the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon. Harden Funeral Home of New Sharon was in charge of the arrangements.

Edna Muriel Hasley Dawley, daughter of Charles and Margarite Hartman Hasley, was born on Feb. 22, 1914, near Searsboro. She was a 1931 graduate of Searsboro High School and, on Oct. 14, 1933, was united in marriage to John J. Dawley at Montezuma. They lived in the Searsboro and New Sharon areas before settling on their farm north of New Sharon. As an adult, Edna had several different jobs but found her greatest enjoyment serving as head cook at the congregate meals site in New Sharon. As someone who had lived through the Great Depression, Edna valued hard work and she loved her family above all else. She was a member of the New Sharon Christian Church and the Loyal Daughters; was past-president of the New Sharon P.T.A.; was a member of the Forest Home Club, the Bunker Hill Booster Club, the New Sharon Rebekah Lodge, and was a Past Noble Grand. An avid sports fan and competitive bowler, Edna loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events.

Her memory is honored by her son, Dan (Diana) Dawley of Montezuma; her two daughters, Betty (George) Harrelson of Newton and Beverly (Ron) Peck of Montezuma; her 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, June Williams, of New Sharon, and a daughter-in-law, Mary (Dawley) Toom and her husband Larry of New Sharon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John on Dec. 17, 1995; a son, Jerry Dawley; two grandsons, Scott Agan and Richard Pargeon, six brothers, John, Bert, Floyd, Joe, Lou and Howard Hasley; a sister, Sylvia; and two siblings in infancy.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Pella.
