HOWARD HASLEY

Howard T. Hasley, 73, of Montezuma, died May 17, at Grinnell Hospital.

He was born Feb. 26, 1922 at Searsboro, the son of Charles and Margarette (Hartman) Hasley. He attended school at Searsboro. In 1944 he was united in marriage with Ella Bunnell. To this union four children were born. Ella died in 1965.

In 1968 he was united in marriage with Macel Gott Armstrong. She died in 1983. He was a farmer, mechanic and truck driver, having worked for International and Kaser Construction. He retired from the Montezuma City Street Department. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge and had been a member of the Montezuma Auxiliary Police.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives; and four brothers and a sister, John, Floyd and Bert Hasley and two in infancy, David and Mary.

Howard is survived by five children, Paul Hasley of Montezuma, Thomas Hasley of Grinnell, Jesse Hasley of Barnes City, Janice Thompson of Montezuma, and Kenny Armstrong of North English; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Edna Dawley and June Williams both of New Sharon and Sylvia Wymore of Burlington; two brothers, Joe Hasley of Mouth of Wilson, Virginia and Lewis Hasley of Malcom; and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were May 20 at Watts Funeral Home of Montezuma. Officiating the services was Pastor Warren James, Regular Baptist Church, Montezuma.

Music was provided by organist Mrs. Kathleen Ramsey, playing "In The Garden" and "Wind Beneath My Wings."

Casket bearers were Mike Hasley, Wayne Hasley, Dan Dawley, John Hasley, Ray Hasley, Paul Pargeon. Honorary casket bearers were Rex Warden, Clarence Duinink, Tom Gay, Raymond Johnson, Jim Vitera, Robert Sanders and Bill Moore.

Interment was at Brooklyn Cemetery.
