ROY CLIFFORD PRESCOTT

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 19, at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada, for Roy Clifford Prescott, 81, of Brooklyn, who died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center, from heart failure. Pastor Ellen C. Taube officiated.

Military rites were held immediately following the burial at Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Roy was born on January 10, 1919, near Roland, to Thomas A. and Millie Thompson Prescott. He was a private in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart. He married Florabelle Mae Quam on November 8, 1952, in Roland.

He had been a painter for the family business, Ames Labs at Iowa State University and retired from the DOT. Roy lived in Nevada until moving to Brooklyn in 1980. He was a former member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. and enjoyed caring for wildlife, fishing and bowling.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald, in 1980 and a sister, Corrine, on April 13, 1996.

Roy is survived by his wife, Florabelle M. Prescott of Brooklyn, four nieces and a dog, Pepper.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada was in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established.
