MRS. ISABELLA PORTER

Isabella Draper was born at North Adams, Mass., December 4, 1836, of English parentage. She passed her early girlhood in the east.

She was married to John Porter November 12, 1855, at Trenton, N.J. Nine children were born to this union, four of whom died in infancy. The living are J.F. Porter of this city, Mrs. Harriet C. McKane of Altoona, B.H. Porter of Knowlton, O.M. Porter and Mrs. Ida M. Raisor of Longmont, Cal.

In 1856 Mr. and Mrs. Porter came west and settled on a farm near Davenport, Scott county, Iowa, and in 1874 moved to a farm near Grinnell. In May, 1894, they moved into the city.

Her husband died January 31, 1896, and she has made this city her home most of the time since, until her death, which occurred February 12, 1908.

She joined the Episcopal church till the end.
