Can anyone Help me?

Trying to find out who were the parents of George C. Baker, born Dec. 21, 1844 Cook County, Illinois. Moved to Polk County Iowa at age 11.
After service in Company b, 23rd Iowa infantry, married in 1867. He was elected County Auditor in 1873, reelected 1875. Had his business Baker Wire Co. in Des Moines starting 1877. His birth and death are both a mystery to us. Can anyone please help???
