West Des Moines, IowaJack V. Close, 82, passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2011 surrounded by his loving family.
A celebration of his life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 23 at McLaren's Chapel with interment at Resthaven Cemetery.
He was born on February 21, 1929 in Des Moines. Upon graduating from Lincoln High School he joined the service and was a veteran of the Korean War. Jack was employed at American National Can for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, three sons, nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Verne and Trudy Close, a brother Bob Close, two children, Lynn and Tim Close and nephew Bobby Close.
Visitation with the family will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at McLaren's. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa.
