Merton Pratt Obituary

Kuna - Merton Louis Pratt was born October 11, 1940 in Des Moines, Iowa to Grace and Ben Pratt. He grew up with two sisters, Marilyn, and Myrna Lou. According to stories of old, Mert was a force to be reckoned with due to the mischief he created as a boy. Growing up he loved to fish, dance and hang out with friends. To help support his family, Mert dropped out of school in eighth grade to work in a local grocery store under the watchful eye of the owner, Sam Cohen, a man that would be remembered for his guidance and care. As soon as Mert was eligible, he signed up to serve our country, but sadly, due to a bum hip, he was not eligible. Since the military didn't work out, Mert and Donna Louise Moorehead (deceased) eloped. A few years later, they started having children...six to be exact: Mert Jr., Madonna, Shane, Shannon, Kylea and Keralea. The commitment to his family was strong, and as his family grew, he worked hard to support them at Diamond Laboratory. Mert discovered he had an incredible knack for working with people. He became successful in sales which led the Pratt Family to move to San Juan Capistrano. Mert continued in sales with FMC, Pratt Packaging and Dynaric. In 1999, Mert married his second wife, Gloria Lynne Stephenson. He also acquired two teenage stepsons, Damon and Landon. In 2008, Mert and Gloria moved to Kuna, Idaho. Mert was blessed with 8 children, 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his crazy antics, his gentle playfulness with the babies (oh-de-loh), his amazing cooking, and his willingness to help others. Mert passed away from complications due to Alzheimer's on May 10, 2024 with loved ones having had the chance to speak with him, share time with him, hold him in their thoughts and prayers, and with his loving wife, by his side. Stay the course Dad...we love you!
