James T. Reed, 65, a former Akron resident, who worked here at the carpenter trade, the past several years residing in Sioux City, died Sunday night, October 31, 1937, in a Sioux City hospital as result of injuries he suffered September 12, when he was struck by a cattle truck while on duty as a railroad crossing flagman at Dace avenue and S. Lafayette street in that city. He had been in the hospital since the accident.

John (James) Thomas Reed was born September 25, 1872, in Taylorsville, Ky. When a youth he went to Clinton, Ill., and married Elena Hunter there August 4, 1904. The couple resided in Armour, S.D., and Akron, Iowa, before locating in Sioux City. A retired carpenter, Mr. Reed was employed by the Sioux City Terminal railway as a flagman when he was injured. He was a member of Sioux City lodge, No. 15, Knights of Pythias.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Mona Britton, of Texas and a son, Bazil G. Reed, of Glendale, Calif.

They have the sympathy of many Akron friends in their bereavement.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Richards funeral chapel in Sioux City, conducted by Rev. W. C. Yeager, pastor of Morningside Christian church. The body was brought to Akron for interment in Riverside cemetery, beside a daughter, Thora, who died here a number of years ago.
