Eldon W. Eberhard

Eldon Wayne Eberhard, 86, of Aguanga, Calif., formerly of Sioux City and Merrill, Iowa, died of pneumonia Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, in Wildomar, Calif.

The body was donated to Cal Poly University in Pomona, Calif. Mr. Eberhard was born Sept. 12, 1912, in Merrill.

He was raised on a farm near Merrill and graduated Liberty Township School in 1930, where he played basketball and baseball. He then moved to Sioux City, where he worked.

He married Georgia Hanson in 1941. The couple lived in Holstein, Iowa, where they owned a small appliance store and electric shop. They then moved back to Sioux City. She died in 1964.

He was employed with Insurance Co., Bankers Life and General American.

He married Ramona (Piercy) Schnee in June 1967 in Sioux City. The couple moved to Riverside, Calif. They retired in 1984 and traveled. They moved to Aguanga in 1991, where they helped build an Escapee R. V. Resort.

He enjoyed sports, golfing and dancing.

He was a member of Optimist Club in Sioux City, where he was a past president and 32nd degree Mason with Sioux City Consistory. He had earned the CLU status in insurance.

Survivors include his wife; a son, C. David of Clarion, Iowa; a daughter, Linda Rae Black of Van Nuys, Calif.; four step-daughters, Linda Lee Morton of Riverside, Ramona Joann Richards and Jean Marie Polochowski, both of Irvine, Calif., and Mary Kay Kuehner of Perris, Calif.; two sisters, Lorene Muk of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Clara Raby of Merrill, Iowa; a brother, Bob Eberhard of Kingsley, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorials in his name may be directed to the American Cancer Association or the American Lung Association.
