Willard Lee Eberhard

WILLARD LEE EBERHARD, age 82, died May 5, 1992, in St. George, Utah. Born December 1, 1909, in Merrill Township, Plymouth County, Iowa to Charles David and Wilhelmina Christina (Kalas) Eberhard. Graduated from Liberty High School in 1926. He engaged in farming, railroading, and meat packing. Married Nina Ester Hurlburt on September 25, 1937, in Lincoln, Nebraska. They moved to California in 1947, settling in Santa Ynez Valley, near Santa Barbara. He he engaged in farming, retail merchandising, restaurant and motel businesses.

Mr. Eberhard was active in church and civic affairs. He was 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Santa Ynez Valley Lodge No. 701, Free and Accepted Masons of California, twice serving as Master of the Santa Ynez Lodge and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Shrine Club, Al Malaikah Temple of Los Angeles. He was a lover reading, writing and poetry. He and his wife moved to La Verkin, Utah in 1983.

Survivors include his wife of LaVerkin, Utah, three sons Charles and Diane Eberhard of Fredonia, Arizona, Gary and Dena Eberhard of Blanding, Utah, Ronald and Stella Eberhard of West Valley City, Utah; Ronald and Stella Eberhard of West Valley City, Utah; twenty-three grandchildren; one great grandchild, one brother, Eldon Eberhard of Kingsley, Iowa; a half-sister, Lorene Meek of Rialto, California; and one step-sister, Clara Raybe of Merrill, Iowa.

Funeral services were held May 8, 1992, at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel in Hurricane, Utah. Interment was at the Oak Hill Cemetery at Ballard, California on May 11, 1992, with Masonic burial rites.
