Rudolph Eberhard

Rudolph John Eberhard, 72, lifelong Plymouth county resident, died Sunday (Feb. 11, 1979) at Floyd Valley hospital in Le Mars after an illness of three months. He had been hospitalized five days.

Mr. Eberhard was born June 18, 1906, in rural Merrill, Plymouth county. He lived for 41 years on a farm 9 miles west of Merrill. He retired nine years ago and moved to Le Mars six years ago. His parents were Charles and Minnie Kallas (actually Kalas) Eberhard. His marriage to Martha Herzberg took place Feb. 9, 1932, in Johnson township rural Merrill.

Funeral services will be at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran church, Merrill. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home in Le Mars. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Robert H. Salge officiating.

Survivors are his wife, Martha, Le Mars; a daughter, Mrs. Arlene Maxwell, Martinville, Ind.; and two sons, Dale of Council Bluffs, and Dean of Le Mars.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren; his stepmother, Mrs. Meta Eberhard, Rialto, Calif.; four brothers, Harold, Mitchell, s. d.; Willard, Buelton, Calif.; Eldon, Riverside, Calif., and Robert of Kingsley, and four sisters, Mrs. Ruth Wetrosky, Alcester; Mrs. Clair Raby, Merrill, Mrs. Lorene Meek, San Bernardino, Calif., and Mrs. Evelyn Conjurski, Rialto, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Leona and Lucille (Lucele), and two brothers, Carl and Walter.

Mr. Eberhard was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church.
