Though it doesn't say it he probably lived in Plymouth County at one time since his parents lived here. His mother's maiden name was Erhardt.

JOHN CARL KALAS

Funeral services for John Carl Kalas, 79, who died Sunday at a hospital after a long illness, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Assembly of God church.

Rev. Kenneth Baker will officiate and burial will be in Logan park cemetery. Pallbearers for the long time Sioux Cityan, will be Clarence Musselman, Ralph Holley, Clyde Zellers, Donald Miles, Glen Monagne and Robert Kuhlman.

The W. Harry Christy funeral home, has charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kalas was born August 25, 1884, in Sioux City. He was a laundry truck driver until he retired about eight years ago.

He married Minnie Barth on September 23, 1905. She died five years ago in Sioux City.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God church.

Survivors include a son, Rev. Ellsworth Kalas of Madison, Wis.; four daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Cole of Whittler, Cal., Mrs. Dorothy Christy of Cedar Rapids, Ia., Mrs. Verna Sandusky of Sioux City and Mrs. Phyllis Martin of Moab, Utah; two brothers, Otto of Merrill, Ia., and Dr. William Kalas of Glendale, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
