Former Minister In Stanton Dies

Kalas Funeral Set For Today

GLENDALE—Funeral services for the Rev. H. W. Kalas who died early yesterday morning at his home will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Glendale Nazarene church. The body will be sent to LeMars, Ia. for burial.

The Rev. Mr. Kalas was born in Guttenburg, Ia., March 12, 1878. He came here two years ago from Milbank, S. D., where he was pastor of the Evangelical church. He was a minister in the Evangelical church for 28 years.

Survivors are: two daughters Vera and Mildred Kalas of Glendale; two sons, the Rev. Harry Kalas of Chicago and Ray Kalas of Watson, Minn.; three brothers, Dr. W. E. Kalas, Glendale, John Kalas of Sioux City, Ia., and Otto E. Kalas, Merrill, Ia.; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Wetzel, Hendricks, Minn., Mrs. Esther Zimmerman, and Mrs. Emma Kaelke of LeMars, Ia.

Rev. H. W. Kalas Passes Away At Glendale, Arizona

Chas. Danne and C. M. Eberhard, of this city, were notified yesterday by wire of the death of their brother-in-law, Rev. H. W. Kalas, 58, at Glendale, Arizona. The body will be brought here for burial. The funeral arrangements were not completed last evening but will be held tentatively at Hildreth church Tuesday afternoon.

Rev. Kalas had lived in Arizona the post few years on account of his health. He suffered from asthma and bronchial trouble.

Rev. Henry Kalas was a former resident here and a minister in the Evangelical church. He served the Evangelical church in Stanton township for several years and from Plymouth county went to Big Stone City, Pipestone, Minn., and to Milbank, S. D.

Mrs. Kalas died September 25, 1935 (actually 1936) and Mr. Kalas came here with his wife’s body for the funeral. She was formerly Miss Annie Danne.

His death is mourned by his children: Rev. Harry Kalas of Chicago; Raymond Kalas of Watson, Minn., and Mildred and Verna Kalas, of Glendale, Arizona. Two sisters, Mrs. H. Kaelke and Mrs. Sam Zimmerman reside here.
