Herman Kaelke

Herman Carl Kaelke, 92, Tabor, former resident of Le Mars, died Friday, March 26, at a Hamburg hospital after an illness of three weeks.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Mauer funeral chapel with Rev. Brandt Freeberg officiating. Burial will be in the Le Mars Memorial cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Mr. Kaelke was born Jan. 29, 1879, in Germany a son of the late John and Johanna Coch Kaelke. He married Emma Dorothea Kalas Jan. 29, 1903, in Stanton township, rural Merrill.

Mr. Kaelke came to the United States and Platt, Neb., at the age of three years. When he was 18 he moved to Plymouth county and had lived in this area until moving to Tabor 7 years ago.

He was a retired farmer and laborer. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

Mr. Kaelke was preceded in death by his wife in 1939, a son Newton and three brothers.

Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Elna) Huddle of Villisca, Esther Kaelke of Winona Lake, Ind., ; Mrs. Howard (Leona) Fear of Winona Lake, Inc. and Mrs. Raymond (Fern) Larson of Climbing Hill; a son, Wallace of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister Mrs. Minnie Waterbury of Akron, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
