Mrs. John R. Walsh
Mrs. John R. Walsh, 88, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday afternoon at a Council Bluffs care center after an illness of several months.
Mrs. Walsh, the former Elsie D. Schluter, was born Dec. 12, 1890, at North Platte, Neb. She was married Aug. 16, 1923, at Akron, Iowa. The couple moved to Sioux City after marriage and remained here until moving to Iowa City in 1942. They lived in Phoenix, Ariz., from 1950 until returning to Sioux City in 1958. Mr. Walsh died in 1963 in Sioux City.
Mrs. Walsh moved to Council Bluff in 1975. She was a former department manager at Michael-Leonard Seed Co. in Sioux City.
Mrs. Walsh was a member of Third Presbyterian Church and was a volunteer for the Red Cross and the Gray ladies in Sioux City, Iowa City and in Arizona.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Mrs. Violet Hess of Council Bluffs; a sister, Mrs. Anna Hanover of McGregor, Minn.; a grandson and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Floyd Cemetery. The Rev. E. D. Pappadackis, pastor of Third Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be under direction of the Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
