He died at the Zimmerman County Home, in LeMars, IA. Arnd Schluter was buried at Akron, IA -- Riverside Cemetery on May 24, 1935.
ESTEEMED AKRON MAN IS SUMMONED
Arnd Schluter Had Been a Resident of the County Since Year 1884
Arnd Schluter, a well known and highly esteemed resident of Akron and early day settler in Plymouth county, passed away at a hospital in LeMars at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, May 22, 1935, after a few days’ illness of pneumonia, aged 81 years, 1 month and 12 days.
Mr. Schluter was born in St. Clair county, Illinois, April 10, 1854, where he grew to manhood. About the year 1884 he came to Plymouth county, Iowa and lived near LeMars. He was united in marriage with Wilhelmina Kaelke on August 26, 1885, and they moved to Nebraska in 1887 and lived there six years.
Moving back to Plymouth county, they farmed east of Akron for a number of years, retiring from farm life about fifteen years ago and coming to town to reside.
Mrs. Schluter preceded her husband in death on February 11, 1933. One daughter, Mrs. D. N Hanover, died a few years ago.
Mr. Schluter is survived by three daughters and one son, Mrs. F. P. Carr, of Hawarden, Iowa; Mrs. A. S. Hanover, of White Bear, Minn.; Mrs. J. R. Walsh, of Sioux City Iowa, and Arnold Schluter, of Volga, S. D.; also one brother John J. Schluter of Madelin, Minn. A man of industrious and upright habits, a devoted husband and father and a congenial friend and neighbor, he was held in high respect by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Friday) morning at 9:30 o’clock in the Akron M F. church, conducted by Rev. J. F. Moore. Interment will be in Riverside cemetery.
