MRS. A. SCHLUTER SUMMONED AFTER EXTENDED ILLNESS

Had Been Resident of Plymouth County for More Than Forty Years

Mrs. Arndt Schluter, a resident of Plymouth county and Akron for many years passed away at her home in this city Saturday evening, February 11, 1933, at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 16 days. She had been in poor health for several years and the past several months had been confined to her bed, with ailments incident to advanced age.

Wilhelmina Kaelke was born at Solitz, Brandenburg, Germany, August 26, 1851, where she was confirmed in the Lutheran church and grew to young womanhood. She came to the United States in 1885. She was united in marriage with Arndt Schluter on August 26, 1886, in LeMars, Iowa, and five children—four daughters and one son—came to bless this union. After residing in Plymouth county a number of years, they moved to Sioux Falls, S. D., in 1907, and came to Akron in 1921, making their home here ever since. Mrs. Schluter was affiliated with the German Evangelical church at LeMars and Sioux Falls and attended the M. E. church in Akron.

She was a kind and devoted wife and mother, a helpful and sympathetic friend and neighbor and was held in high esteem by all who knew her.

Left to mourn her departure are: Her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Frank Carr, of Hawarden, Iowa; Mrs. Andrew Hanover, of Atwater, Minn.; Mrs. J. R. Walsh of Sioux City, Ia.; one son Arnold Schluter of Volga, S. D.; nineteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Mrs. Dan Hanover of Sioux Falls died in 1923.

The community extends sympathy to the bereaved relatives.

Funeral services were held in the Akron M. E. church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Re. F. F. Robinson. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
