Services Held for Lucille E. Meyer

Funeral services for Lucille E. Meyer were held on Friday, May 21, 1999, at the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. Donald Freeman officiating. Interment was at the [West] Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa und the direction of the Gaudian Eldridge Funeral Home.

Obituary

Lucille E. Meyer, the daughter of Joseph and Mattie Hagenbucher, was born March 26, 1902, near Peoria, Illinois. She moved with her parents to the Sutherland, Iowa area in 1918. On January 31, 1923, she was united in marriage to John. H. Meyer in Hartley, Iowa. The couple had one son, Robert, born in 1933. After their marriage, the couple farmed one mile north of Sutherland, Iowa for several years before moving in 1941, to a farm east of Paullina and farming there until the couple's retirement in 1966, and they moved into Paullina.

Her husband preceded her in death on September 18, 1898, in Paullina. Lucille passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at the Wide View Rest Home in Paullina, reaching the age of 97 years, 1 month and 22 days.

Lucille will be remembered for her caring nature and many acts of kindness towards her family, church and her many friends in the community. She always found time to listen and console her family and friends. She was a member of the Frist Presbyterian Church in Paullina. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed many hours of quilting activities.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Charlotte Meyer of Charlotte, North Carolina; a grandson, two granddaughters, six great granddaughters; a sister, Edna Stover of Hartley, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Lucille was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be missed and fondly remembered by all.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, John; four brothers, Lester, Norman, Raymond, and Russell; and one sister, Mildred Hansen.
