Vendella A. Jacobs

Funeral services for Vendella A. Jacobs were conducted on Saturday, October 22, 2005, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley, Iowa. Rev. Jeff Filkins officiated. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. Sanborn and Hartley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Vendella Arlene (Johnson) Jacobs, the daughter of Arthur G. and Mabel C. Johnson, was born at Albert City, Iowa at the home of her grandparents, Aaron and Adolphina Johnson, on February 20, 1927. She lived her youth and received her education in the Albert City area. Vendella was baptized on April 1, 1928, and her godparents were her paternal grandparents, Anna and Ola Johnson, on Februay 20, 1927. She lived her youth and received her education in the Albert City area.

Vendella was united in marriage to John F. Jacobs on August 15, 1948 at Albert City. Their married lifetime had been spent at Hartley. Vendella was a homemaker and a wonderful mother to Joy, Wanda, and Stan.

SHe died on October 17, 2005, at the Lake Regional Hospital at Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of 78 years, seven months, and 27 days.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Joy Pangburn of Lake Ozark, Missouri, Wanda and Dennis Kaiser of Laurie, Missiouri, and Stan and Bonny Jacobs of Hartley; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Rosalie Duitsman of Pomeroy, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, on October 29, 2000; her parents; two stepfathers; three brothers: Dale Johnson, Denton Johnson, and Leland Johnson, all of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; one sister, Henrietta Johnson, passing away in infancy; and one great-granddaughter, Jessica Kaiser of Stoutland Missouri.

Vendella was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and the American Legion Auxiliary of Hartley.

Her greatest joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed visiting with friends and relatives.
