John Wilmer Jacobs, the son of John and Carrie Kuneberger Jacobs, was born January 31, 1897, at Belmond, Iowa. He passed away August 9, 1970 at the Hartley Community Memorial Hospital at the age of 73 years, 6 months, and 20 days.

He was raised around the Belmond area and attended school there. He later lived in Everly, Iowa, and since 1923 has resided in Hartley. He served during the First World War in the United States Army.

He was united in marriage to Josie Tippetts on July 3, 1927 at Franklin, Nebraska.

For fifty years he was self-employed as an interior decorator and painter.

He was baptized in the Methodist church, and was a member of the Beacon Lodge No. 495 AF and AM, Golden Sheaf Chapter 8 Order of the Eastern Star, 50 year member of the American Legion, Clay Chapter 2 RAM Temple Council No 37 R and SM and Azotus Commandery No. 65 KT.

Preceding him in death were one brother and one sister. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Josie; three sisters, Mrs. Dilla Knee, Harrison, Arkansas, Elva (Mr. Wm. Gleason), Canyon City, Colorado, and Verna (Mrs. Fed Olson), Ruthven, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services ere held on Saturday, August 22, 970, in the United Methodist Church in Hartley. Rev. Keith Scott Officiated. Burial was in Pleasant View cemetery at Hartley with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
