LONGTIME BUSINESSMAN
John Sheridan dies suddenly; services held Tuesday
This community was shocked and saddened by the sudden death of John Sheridan, 59, a well known and longtime businessman here.
Mr. Sheridan suffered a severe coronary at his home late Friday afternoon, Jan. 12 and died
Saturday afternoon, Jan. 13 at Baum-Harmon Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, Jan. 16 at 10:30 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father LeRoy Suentjens officiating.
Pallbearers were Dr. B.C. Hagen, John Thompson, Edward Benz, Elliott Sheley, Dick Nagel and Craig Smith.
Chauffers were Howard Baker and Arthur Bergen. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery,
Primghar with Gaudian Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sheridan was born March
26, 1913 at Bancroft, la. He attended the Bancroft schools and worked in the Fox Furniture Store.
He married Mary Cairy on Nov. 22, 1936 at
Independence, la. He operated a variety store at McGregor, la. , for seven years, then moved to Primghar in 1944. He owned and operated
Sheridan's 5&10 in Primghar since that time and also operated a variety store in Sanborn.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Voight of Newport News, Va.; and Mrs. Marilyn Salazoe of San Ramor, Calif.; a son
Timothy at home; six grandchildren; brother James of Waterloo; sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Betty) Becker of Bancroft and Mrs. Merritt (Pat) Griffin of Ringsted.
