Mary "Neet" A. Sheridan
Mary Anita Cairy Sheridan (Neet) died peacefully at the Primghar Rehabilitation Center on August 30, 2013 at the age of 93.
Neet was born on October 10, 1919 in
Whittemore, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late Seth Cairy and Alice Cairy Saunders.
While attending Presentation Academy in Whittemore, Iowa she never missed a day of school.
She was united in marriage to John Sheridan in Independence, Iowa 1937 by Father William
Donahue. They resided in McGregor, Iowa for
seven years prior to moving to Primghar, Iowa She and the late John Sheridan owned Ben Franklin Stores, and later changed to
Sheridan's 5 & 10 m Primghar
and Sanborn. She closed the store in Sanborn in 1974 and in Primghar in 1984.
Neet was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Women's Guild, an election official for O'Brien County and a member of the Care Review Committee for the County Home from 1972 thru 1997.
Neet will be always be remembered for her love of the Lord, church, her family, generosity of
heart, her infectious laugh and especially her feisty spirit.
Neet was preceded in death by John Sheidan, husband, Betty Ann Sheidan Voight, daughter,
Stanley Voight, son-in-law, Kirk Voight, grandson, sisters, June (Cairy) Krogmeier, Eleanor (Cairy) Thompson and Alma (Cairy) Baker and nephews, Bill Thompson & Patrick Shendan.
Survivors are children, Lynn Sheridan Salazar and husband, Randy of Bluffton, SC, and Tim
Sheridan of Everly, IA, grandsons, Shawn
Salazar and wife,
Dana of Oakland, CA, Shane
Salazar and wife, Lynn of Walnut Creek, CA, granddaughters, Kimberly Voight Coffman of Newport News, VA, Lynn Voight Bums and husband, Greg of Charleston, SC and Michelle Voight Rose of Boise, Idaho. Her great grandchildren are Cassidy Salazar and Devan Salazar of Oakland, CA and Camryn Salazar and Alexa Salazar of Walnut Creek, CA, Timothy Coffman and wife, Courtney of Newport News, VA, Kristina Ferguson
of Newport News, VA, Margaret Bums of Clemson, SC and Patrick Burns of Charleston, SC, and a brother-in-law, Frank Baker of Mesa, AZ. Nieces and nephews include Jim Thompson, Joan and
family, Mary Newell,
Dave and family, Maureen
Thompson and Mary Helfter all
of Primghar, IA, Pat Lucas, Dick
and family of Algona, IA, Anne
