ELEANOR THOMPSON
1927-1985
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1985 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic
Church, Primghar, for Eleanor Thompson. Rev. Anthony Pick, Rev. Ronald Reicks, and Rev.
Jerome Coyle officiated.
Honorary pallbearers were Gibb Surette, Frank Baker, Jr., Mike Baker, Charles Krogmeier, Denis Krogmeier, and Pat Krogmeier.
Pallbearers were Tim Sheridan, Roger Crosbie, Bob Steinkamp, Earl Surette, John Bird, and Bob Heppner.
Organist was Mrs. Edna Tonner.
Servers were Jeff Lucas, Kevin Kelleher and Brian Shea. Lectors included Sister Joan Theiss and Sister Jeanette Halbach. Jack Black was
the chauffeur.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Primghar,
with Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Eleanor Thompson, the daughter of Seth and
Alice Oliver Cairy, was born October 15, 1927 in Whittemore, la. She attended Whittemore schools and graduated from Britt High School in
1945. She then went on to attend the College of St. Theresa in Winona, Mn. She then came to
Primghar where she was employed as a secretary at the Dept. of Social Services in Primghar.
On July 1, 1948 she was united in marriage to John E. Thompson in Primghar. After their
marriage the couple made their home in
Primghar.
On March 1,1979 John passed away in Iowa City.
Eleanor continued to make her home in Primghar until passing away on Saturday, December 28,
1985, reaching the age of 58 years, two months and 13 days.
Eleanor was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Primghar, she was a special minister of the Eucharist and a member of the Ladies Guild, she was also a board member of the
O'Brien County Welfare Board.
She is survived by her children, two sons, William Thompson and daughter-in-law Mary Helfter of Primghar, James and daughter-in-law Leann Thompson of Primghar; three daughters, Mary Thompson of Primghar, Patricia and son-in-law Dick Lucas of Primghar, Maureen Thompson of
Primghar; six grandchildren, Jeff, Jay and Joey Lucas, Kyle, Craig and Kelly Thompson, and a
foster grandchild, Kim Christensen; three sisters, Mrs. Jane s (Alice June) Krogmeier of FL Madison, Mary A. (Neet) Sheridan ofPrimghar, Mrs. Frank (Alma) Baker of Mesa, Az.; a special friend, Mrs. Kathy Surette of Primghar; also a host of other relatives and friends.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, John, and her parents.
