Services held for Ida M. Grimberg

Funeral services for Ida M. Grimberg were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 1997, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. Steven Hayden officiating. "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" were sung by the congregation. The organist was Mrs. Alice Fintel. The casket bearers were Bruce Grimberg, Wayne Hatting, Bruce Hamel, Mark Hatting, Neal Hatting and Orvin Krueger. Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Ida Marie Frieda Grimberg, the daughter of Benjamin and Anna Ebert Holtgrewe, was born May 16, 1911, in Union Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Walter Grimberg on September 18, 1930, at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Paullina area, southwest of town until 1972. In 1975, they moved into Paullina.

Her husband, Walter, passed away on April 8, 1991. In August of 1992, Ida had a stroke that left her paralyzed on her right side. She had been a resident of Wide View Rest Home in Paullina since that time. Even with her adversities, she continued to be a strength and example to all. She passed away at the home on Wednesday, December 3, 1997, reaching the age of 86 years, 6 months and 17 days.

She was baptized on June 11, 1911, and later confirmed on March 28, 1926, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen, Iowa. She was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina.

Ida leaves to cherish her memory one son, Murl and his wife, Margaret Grimberg of Paullina, Iowa; one daughter, Verla and her husband, Marvin Hatting of Mankato, MN; nine grandchildren; ten greatgrandchildren; four sisters: Mrs. Nora Tesch of Primghar, IA, Mrs. Gladys Bottjen of Hawarden, IA, Mrs. Irma Lower of Omaha, NE, and Mrs. Shirley Sztuk of Mesa, AZ; two brothers: Burdette Holtgrewe of
Le Mars, IA, and Benjamin Holtgrewe of Sioux City, IA; also a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; parents; eight sisters, Caroline Jurgensen, Esther Ott, Elsie Holtgrewe, Lillian Ott, Leona Seggerman, Bernice Bottjen and two in infancy; and two brothers, Roy and Albert Holtgrewe.
