1917-1990
Funeral services were held February 3, 1990 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Primghar, for Oliver L. Jenness. Rev. Anthony Pick officiated.
Pallbearers were Chad Jenness, Cory Jenness,
Gregory Jenness, Jamison Jenness, Jason Einck, and Bill Magnussen.
Music was by St. Anthony's Parish Choir,
accompanied by Judy Sweeney. Lector was Bill Thompson.
Mass servers were Tony Einck, Matthew Einck, and Chris Jenness.
Interment was
at Calvary Cemetery, with Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral
Home in charge of arrangements. Military graveside services by Chateau-Thierry
Post of the American Legion andV.F.W. Post of Prlmghar.
Oliver Leland Jenness, son of Francis and Verna McCorkel Jenness, was born May 3, 1917 in Silver Township near Quimby, lowa. His early childhood years were spent in O'Brien and
Cherokee counties where he received his
education.
He was then called into the service which he served from October 1941 to November 1945 in the Army.
On January 9, 1947 he was united in marriage to
Marcella West In Sanborn, lowa.
After their marriage the couple settled In O'Brien County where they farmed and he did
custom farming. He retired from farming in 1981 and the couple moved into Prlmghar
in 1989. Oliver passed away on Thursday,
February 1, 1990 at the Baum-Harmon Hospital In Primghar,
reaching the age of 72 years, eight months and 28 days.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Primghar, a member of V.F.W. Post of Primghar and the Chateau-Thierry Post of
the American Legion of Primghar, and he was associated with the Primghar Development Corporation.
Oliver leaves to cherish his memory his wife Marcella of Primghar; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Marv Einck of Primghar and Jolene and Ross Friedrichsen of Arthur, la.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and
Marlene Jenness of Cherokee, and Larry and Connee Jenness of Primghar; 16 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Reta Fuhrman of
Cherokee, Mrs. Geraldine Roby of Miles, la., Mrs. Ruby Webb of Cherokee, and Mrs. Lois Pflugrad of Shawnee, Ks.; five brothers, Erwin Jenness of Kingsley, Virgil Jenness ofSanborn, Merritt Jenness of Marcus, Howard Jenness of Cherokee, and Marlin Jenness of LeMars; also a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lloyd; and one sister, Lela
